We wanted to let you know what is happening in terms of transition from Year 6 into Year 7 2021.
We are aware that Year 6 students are unable to participate in so many of the activities that would usually occur per term.
We are thinking about the opportunities we can provide within the guidelines, so as to ensure a smooth and successful transition to High School. At this stage there will be no onsite transition as a whole year group. However, depending on the guidelines, we are hopeful that some small group sessions can take place, particularly for students who are anxious about transition.
We are in close contact with our partner primary schools and are discussing options for transition activities. As soon as we have concrete plans – we will inform you.
In the meantime, Shane Emmett who is an English Teacher and talented film maker at Umina Campus, is putting together a short presentation for Year 6 students. This will enable them to observe aspects of our school life to help them get familiar with our school. We will also be putting together a presentation of key staff members so that your children can get to know names and faces.
At present we are finalising classes for next year. During Term 4, we are going to let you know what class your child is in. We have not done this in previous years but due to the current circumstances, we thought it would be helpful for students to know their classes ahead of time. This way our Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders can start to get to know the children and introduce themselves to you.
