All working Australians have to produce a Tax File Number (TFN) to employers.
If you can not produce a TFN you will not be paid accurately and will pay more tax.
To apply for a TFN you need to log onto; ATO.gov.au
On the top tool bar on the ATO homepage click on "Individual"
Then scroll across until you see Tax File Number and then click on 'Apply for Tax File Number'
You will then have to fill out a series of questions and provide personal details including your date of birth (DOB) and your residential address.
Once you have completed this application form you need to print it off and take it to the Post Office for processing. You must also take 2 forms of identification with you. These must be originals. You should take your Birth Certificate or Passport and a second form of ID such as Medicare Card or Student ID card.
Please note that the local Ettalong, Woy Woy and Umina Post Offices WILL NOT process your application.
