Interrelate Family Services Erina office is hosting a series of video and yarning nights.
These nights will be held once a month on the last Thursday of each month starting on Thursday the 29th of August 2013 and finishing on the 28th of November 2013.
The purpose of these evenings is to build greater awareness of the contemporary issues facing Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Peoples in today's society. In the spirit of reconciliation the evenings will be co facilitated by Stuart McMinn Interrelates Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community Liaison Worker and Christine Sinclair Manager Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
The evenings are also a chance for staff who work throughout the industry to get together and enjoy some relaxing evenings and enjoy each other's company. At the end of the video there will be a yarning circle that will discuss the film in order to create understanding of the issues or events that took place in the film and shed some light on their cultural significants.
Light meal and refreshments will be available for all that attend on the evenings. Anybody attending the evenings are welcome to bring their children along. However on some evenings the films that are shown may have themes that are not suitable for the young ones.
