Brisbane Water Secondary College Agriculture Department competes successfully with Pure bred Berkshire Pigs at The Royal Easter Show
BWSC Agriculture studentsbred, raised and prepared four purebred Berkshire pigs to compete at this year's Sydney Royal Easter Show. The excellent genetics and confirmation combined with careful selection and preparation by BWSC agriculture students resulted in the following outstanding results.
- Champion Junior Gilt
- Reserve Champion Senior Boar
- Reserve Champion Junior Boar
BWSC won the Stockmans Award for the Best Presented Pig Exhibition and Allana Norris won the Best Presentation by a Junior Exhibitor. The judge acknowledged the school's high performance in a professional commercial breeders elite competition environment.

Sincere thanks are extended to Mr and Mrs Cole from Forbes for their long standing support and expertise in this program. The Coles have continued to provide premium quality stock to the school while teaching students the important criteria for pig selection for showing.

Preparations for this years Sydney Royal Easter Show Cattle Show Program commenced some five months prior to the competition, with countless hours of hard work perfecting the qualities that were to be judged. Students from years 7 – 12 were involved in the months of preparation at the school agriculture department and then finally behind the scenes at the show. Breeders came from throughout NSW to see their generously donated stock compete.
Seventy competitors including breeders, pastoralists and schools entered in excess of 200 cattle in the Open Steer and the Trade Hoof and Hook competitions presenting an extremely strong field. For this year's Sydney Royal Easter Show BWSC Agriculture department presented six cattle for competition with four achieving ribbons and medals as outlined below.
- Second Place and Bronze Medal Open Heavyweight Steer led by Allana Norris bred by Mr and Mrs Alcorn of Quirindi and sponsored by the Judd Family from Woy Woy Rotary Club
- Fourth Place and Bronze Medal School Steer led by Ben Nadan and bred by BWSC and Mr and Mrs Kelleher of Mount Rivers.
- Silver Medal Trade Steer/Heifer led by Luke Boxsell and bred by Mr and Mrs Kelleher of Mount Rivers.
- Silver Medal Trade Steer/Heifer led by Chloe Sutherland and bred by Mr and Mrs McCredie of Gresford

The long standing comeraderie between the school communities continues to develop wonderful friendships between students that extend beyond the school years.
